On Friday 12 March 2021, more than 600 educators from our six schools and HopeHouse staff participated in an online session given by Br. Ricky Laguda on the Declaration on the Lasallian Educational Mission as well as the Identity Criteria document. The students were on home-based learning and this allowed their teachers and staff to be available for Lasallian formation sessions. Ms. Ed-Linddi helped with the technical arrangements. Br. MALAYSIA - Whilst COVID has had tragic direct impact on people’s lives and livelihoods, there is some positivity to share from Penang.

The Lasallian East Asia District (LEAD) supports the International Office of Catholic Education (OIEC), the Education Commission of the Unions of men and women General Superiors (USG & UISG), and the Congregation for Catholic Education, in responding to Pope Francis’ call to build together the Global Compact on Education.

THAILAND - It is a great honor for us, La Salle Miguel House, to welcome the Sector Head of La Salle Thailand, Br. Joseph Klong Chai Phuek FSC. He has been behind the work of Miguel House for the past 3 years; he truly brought blessings to our home.

We would like to thank Br. Joseph Klong for visiting us this time with love and kindness. The speech that he gave to us was very motivating, urging us to live our daily lives not to be like the dead but swimming upstream to improve our life.

LA SALLE MIGUEL HOUSE STORY

LASALLE has just been ranked third in Singapore (after NUS and NTU), top 50 in Asia and 151-200 globally for Art and Design. We just received our ranking from Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings, one of the most influential and authoritative rankings in the world.

Within ASEAN, LASALLE ranks among the top 10 institutions, and among specialist arts institutions, LASALLE is ranked in the top 10 in Asia as well as 2nd in ASEAN, an impressive outcome for the College’s rankings debut.

Following Minister Lawrence Wong's announcement in Parliament yesterday that LASALLE will become part of Singapore’s first university of the arts, in alliance with NAFA, the news was immediately and widely reported across the media.The Straits Times highlighted Minister Lawrence Wong's statement that MOE has decided to grant the alliance university status, and degree-awarding powers, because of the high quality and standards of both institutions.

SJII Malaysia has always been thankful for the immense support it receives from parents. Last month, our Head of School received a beautiful painting depicting the very essence of the school: "Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve" and "We are one, but we are many... , we are Lasallian", from Mrs Natalie Motha, one of four founding families. This precious gift was created by Danette Gomes, an artist from Mumbai, India. Their generosity is very much appreciated. May our heavenly Father bless their family and loved ones! In communion with the Archdiocese of Ozamis as it celebrated its Golden Jubilee of elevation to a diocese, the Brothers of Ozamiz and Iligan joined the local church in the Eucharistic celebration held on February 13 at the Immaculate Conception Metropolitan Cathedral.
