LEAD Story 393

SINGAPORE - This year marks the 170th anniversary of the Lasallian Brothers' landing in Singapore and Asia in 1852.

Students, alumni and staff of the Lasallian schools in Singapore took part in the remaking of ‘We Are Lasallian’. The song reminds us that we are part of a much larger Lasallian community. We celebrate the gift of Lasallian education and hope that we can inspire future generations to continue the good work of serving the last, the lost and the least! THAILAND - The Lasallian educators from the four La Salle schools in Thailand: La Salle Bangkok, La Salle Chanthaburi, La Salle Nakhonsawan, and La Salle Sangklaburi, have undergone intensive and fruitful teachers and staff formation programs under Mr. Michael Warin Chiapaiboon in the past months.

The formation program's goals were to foster campus camaraderie and a sense of community and to prepare the educators for the "Mission to Restore Learning." Better teaching methodology and attitudes were also included in the said formation to touch more hearts and transform more lives of the students entrusted to their care.

PHILIPPINES - It has been an extraordinary vibrant week with our live inners. We thank Diego, Enzo, and Louis for spending the past 5 days with us in the community

The Brothers Live-In Program (BLIP) is the flagship vocations ministry initiative of the De La Salle Brothers of the Philippines. It has been present for many decades and has been a crucial program in the lives of many Brothers. Today, young people are invited to spend several days in the Brothers’ Community to experience the day-to-day life of the Brothers. During their stay, learning sessions are conducted, which cover the life of the Founder, Lasallian values, vocation stories and the like. The Brothers hope that their openness to welcome young people in the house will continue to inspire them to discover how they can contribute to God’s dream of attaining fullness of life for all. (Br. How do I find the right words to accurately encapsulate the experience?

It was an eventful 2 week journey which continues till today as fellow participants keep in touch and continue to support each other.

The 10 days of the program were intense and rewarding. They were filled with personal reading time, engaging in conversations with fellow participants, sharing insights, debating ideas, and clarifying questions. Those classroom sessions brought the autobiographies of De La Salle to life for me. The letters our founder wrote were shared and read together in a way that was captivating and provided new and different perspectives on the founder, his life, his relationship with his brothers and the people around him.

I haven’t enjoyed reading in such a long time. Now I understand why people join book clubs!

Apart from the serious study, we prayed together, ate together, danced together, and had dedicated time for personal and quiet reflection.

The program brought together like-minded people who shared a common identity and passion for learning, teaching and reaching out to those in need. To me, Buttimer is a program for any Lasallian who wants to deepen their understanding and appreciation for the founder, the mission and whilst being immersed in an environment that supports learning. SINGAPORE - On 11 September morning from 6.30am to 12.30pm, 74 participants made up of pupils and their family members came together to share their time & effort in blessing others through volunteering in the SJIJ PTA Family Community Service Activity at the Willing Hearts!

Willing Hearts operates a kitchen run by volunteers that prepares, cooks, and distributes 11,000 meals each day for 365 days a year, for the elderly, the disabled, low-income families, children from single-parent families or otherwise poverty-stricken families.

Participants got hands-on in various tasks from peeling and chopping vegetables, packing lunch boxes to delivering the food to different places all over Singapore.

Though tiring, it was definitely a purposeful experience for all the participants who had come together to serve the community as a SJI Junior family, living out our Lasallian values of faith, service & community!

A big shout out to all the parents and children who participated!!! Thank you so much for all your hard work!!! (St. Joseph’s Institution Junior Official Facebook Page)

THAILAND - The De La Salle Brothers in Thailand joined the Sisters of the Lovers of the Cross in a Green Mission. As Pope Francis calls for ecological citizenship through his letter, Laudato Si, the religious brothers, priests, and sisters work together to spread awareness of zero waste management in a momentous event by the Sisters of the Lovers of the Cross as they celebrate their 350th Anniversary in Thailand.

More than 500 Sisters of the Lovers of the Cross from Los Angles, Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand and 300 other participants attended the event in Ayutthaya.

Br. Stephen Pichit FSC represented the De La Salle Brothers in taking part in environmental conservation as he works in the Care of the World committee. He assisted Sr. Agnes Kanlaya SHB, the chair of the “Care for the World” project of the Association of Major Religious Superiors in Thailand, in the said program. (Text: Br. PHILIPPINES - It's been a while!

After a 2-year hiatus, we are happy to announce that St. Brother Miguel Academy (SBMA) - Bacolod is finally back!

Last September 10, 2022, inspired by St. La Salle and St. Brother Miguel, and grounded on the Lasallian core values of faith, service, and communion, SBMA finally had the opportunity to continue its mission to provide catechism classes.

The Brothers, aspirants, and volunteers had a wonderful time accompanying the Bahay Pag-asa residents to grow in faith, fraternity, and service as they strive their best to live as authentic Christians and disciples of Christ.

Thank you to everyone who made this first engagement successful.

We are looking forward to the next! (SBMA Bacolod 2022-2023 Official Facebook Page)
