LEAD Holy Week Retreat 2020

LEAD Story 331

The COVID-19 Pandemic did not hinder the Brothers from commemorating the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ. While they did not gather this year for the annual Holy Week Retreat, the respective communities became venues for all to take part and celebrate the Holy Week Liturgies. This year’s theme was: ‘Brothers as the Heart, Memory, and Guarantor of the Lasallian Mission’. While they did not gather this year for the annual Holy Week Retreat, the respective communities became venues for all to take part and celebrate the Holy Week Liturgies. This year’s theme was: ‘Brothers as the Heart, Memory, and Guarantor of the Lasallian Mission’. The Holy Week Retreat prayer guides and liturgies were meticulously crafted by the Scholastics.

During these holy days, the Brothers spent time together in prayer through Masses, Eucharistic Adoration, group faith sharing, the re-enactment of the Washing of the Feet, praying the Way of the Cross, and other Paschal Triduum and Easter liturgies. In communities where the Mass and other rites were not available, the Brothers had the option to watch them online. The Bacolod Brothers’ Community live-streamed their Holy Week Masses and rites on Facebook, which brought some of the communities together.

Some communities chose to have other ways of observing the Holy Week. Some of our Brothers went through personal silent retreats instead.

Twenty-four (24) LEAD Young Brothers currently assigned in Japan and in the Philippines renewed temporary vows during the Easter Vigil rites. These were done in their respective communities. Young Brothers in other countries are scheduled to have theirs at a later date. (Photos: Br. Aikee Esmeli FSC, Br. Noel Lal FSC, Br. Ranier Guillergan FSC, Br. Paul Mata FSC, Br.
