HONG KONG - Chong Gene Hang College is celebrating its 50th anniversary and its most recent function was a Jubilee Open Day on the 10th December 2021. The sun shone amid cool breezes.
First off there was a prayer service attended by all the guests and students. This was followed by a gathering around the statue of St La Salle where balloons, in the shape of a Rosary, were released into the blue sky.
The more formal ceremony took place in the school hall where, among other aspects, the main donors were recognised. One of the highlights of the programme was a Lion Dance. The lions and drummers led the guests to the naming of a special wing in honour of the mother of Mr Wong Mo Ting, former Supervisor of De La Salle Secondary School and to the refurnished physical fitness room, courtesy of former teacher and manager, Mr John Kwan.
Chong Gene Hang College never forgets its roots and honours especially the school donor, Mr Chong, and its first Principal, Br Brendan. May the school continue to shine bright. (Text: Br. Patrick Tierney FSC; Photo: Mr. Paul Tam)
