PHILIPPINES - December 03, 2021. The members of the Holy Infancy Brothers’ Community (HIBC) had their virtual Canonical Visit and dialogue with LEAD Brother Visitor, Br. Armin Luistro FSC. It was an afternoon of sharing insights of experiences being the smallest Brothers’ community in the Philippines. Though HIBC is the smallest, it is also the youngest community where each member has vital roles to play in each area of the ministry. The Brothers are somehow outside of the norm where the school community is comprised of a great majority of Catholics, since the Iligan community has a great number of our brothers and sisters from the Islam faith. In addition to that, all the Brothers of HIBC did not come from Iligan -- two Filipinos from Luzon and one from Myanmar.

La Salle Academy is the third La Salle school established in the Philippines in a pluralistic faith and diverse culture and tradition. Daily, we are challenged to be more creative, innovative, engaging and most importantly inclusive in the various programs or activities for our students, especially in this extraordinary and trying time.

We are called to enter in a dialogue of openness, understanding, respect, and service in all walks of life by fostering Lasallian vocations, embracing the way of life of a true Lasallian. We do not harp on about religion but rather the mission entrusted to us.

Let us remember that we are in the most holy and loving presence of our faith. (Text: Br. Dan Sanding FSC & Br. Ivan Umali FSC; Photo: Br. Ivan Umali FSC)

JAPAN - Today, after school, we made our first visit to Gaku, a school child-care center. The children, who range from 1st to 4th grade, not only greeted us warmly, but also seemed to get to know each other quickly and played recreational games for two hours. We had a good time with each other. We are looking forward to the future.

We are made wise not by the recollection of our past, but by the responsibility for our future. – George Bernard Shaw

The past is malleable and flexible, changing as our recollection interprets and re-explains what has happened. – Peter L. Berger

THAILAND - 10-12 December of this year was a national holiday in Thailand, so we took the opportunity to gather and discuss the various things that are happening, both in the schools we are responsible for and about personal matters. The recollection was held at Phu Tub Berk, Phetchaboon Province.

Being together and talking to one another makes us get to know each other better and understand each person's ideas and opinions. This p r o m o t e s g o o d r e l a t i o n s h i p a n d brotherhood among us, the Thai Young Brothers.

Thank you to all Brothers who participated in this recollection. Hopefully, we will see each other again as soon as possible. May the child Jesus, who will be born to us, bless us and make us happy, prosperous, and safe from all harm and the pandemic. (Text: Br. John Niran Suksankrasin FSC; Photos: Br. PHILIPPINES - Last Dec 4, 2021, our aspirants from Iligan and Lipa had their second online apostolic engagement with the residents of Kuya Center. The first picture shows the main theme of the engagement. A catechism class on Advent prepared by our aspirants with one invited contact as an observer. The second picture showcases the different drawing outputs of the residents to express how they can prepare for the coming of Jesus Christ.

HONG KONG - In the spirit of Christmas, the Student Leadership Enhancement Programme of La Salle College conducted two outreach activities to benefit our less fortunate brothers and sisters.

Toy Reborn 2021 (in partnership with HK YMCA & La Salle Primary School) gave a second chance to donated toys which put a smile on the faces of the underprivileged children. #lasallecollegeofficial #Service #Community #LaSalleCares #ToyReborn #LSPS #PassItOn (La Salle College Official Facebook Page)

Lasallians live up to the school motto again! Our boys rolled up their sleeves and prepared close to 3 tonnes of food for the communities in need, and they went home knowing their work will warm many families. #lasallecollegeofficial #Service #Community #LaSalleCares #FeedingHK #BrJude #BrMikey (La Salle College Official Facebook Page)

PHILIPPINES - La Salle Academy (LSA) located in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte, Mindanao celebrated the 23rd Mindanao Week of Peace (MWOP) last November 25 to December 01, 2021.

In celebration of this momentous event, La Salle Academy in collaboration with the Office of the Vice-Principal for Student Management, Night High School and Lasallian Ministry Office, had a Peace Pole Dedication Ceremony (PPDC) witnessed by school community members through Zoom and Lasallian Media Facebook Live last November 26, 2021.

La Salle Academy has the 12th Peace Pole dedicated in Mindanao since the last dedication ten years ago. Also, LSA is the third La Salle School in the Philippines to have a Peace Pole, following De La Salle Lipa in 2010 and De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute in the Philippines in 2019. PHILIPPINES - Br Andre Labelle FSC, the oldest Brother in the District, joined many Filipinos in their yearly tradition of the Simbang Gabi (Dawn/Night Masses) at De La Salle University-Dasmariñas.

He is committed to complete the “novena” leading up to Christmas. This was also his first outing from the confines of the community for many months. Community transmission is low, he has received his booster shot, and the venue is not crowded and has good ventilation. (Text: Br. Sockie de la Rosa; Photo: Br. Aikee Esmeli FSC)

HONG KONG - Chong Gene Hang College is celebrating its 50th anniversary and its most recent function was a Jubilee Open Day on the 10th December 2021. The sun shone amid cool breezes.

First off there was a prayer service attended by all the guests and students. This was followed by a gathering around the statue of St La Salle where balloons, in the shape of a Rosary, were released into the blue sky.

The more formal ceremony took place in the school hall where, among other aspects, the main donors were recognised. One of the highlights of the programme was a Lion Dance. The lions and drummers led the guests to the naming of a special wing in honour of the mother of Mr Wong Mo Ting, former Supervisor of De La Salle Secondary School and to the refurnished physical fitness room, courtesy of former teacher and manager, Mr John Kwan.

Chong Gene Hang College never forgets its roots and honours especially the school donor, Mr Chong, and its first Principal, Br Brendan. May the school continue to shine bright. (Text: Br. Patrick Tierney FSC; Photo: Mr. Paul Tam)
